I’ve been working on a history of advice subreddits and subreddit-plot.py
generates a useful bubble plot.
Update (2026-10-26): I added
r/WhatShouldIDo (2009–Oct, 357K), though its placement is
misleading. It was created in the 2009 subreddit explosion yet lay
dormant for a decade, with fewer than 140 posts before 2019. Activity
then grew modestly, but 72% of its roughly 36K posts came in 2025 alone,
the same year its current moderator was added. Its size reflects a 2025
surge rather than longevity.
