Sun

The solitary star of our solar system. The earth that we live on and all of her sister planets, both the other terrestrial planets and the gas giants, orbit the sun, approximately in accordance with Newtons Laws of Gravity.

What other bodies orbit the sun besides gas giants and terrestrial planets? Well, there's asteroids, comets, trans-neptunian objects, and of course dust.

The sun's a G2 main sequence star, somewhat bigger than average but certainly smaller than those that dominate the sky, and about 5 billion years old.
