PitcairnIsland

A tiny island in the SouthPacific, one of the most remote sites of human habitation on the planet. Its fascinating history begins with the famous mutiny on the H.M.S. Bounty; the original PitcairnErs were roughneck sailors and their Tahitian "wives." An English-Polynesian creole, as well as English, are spoken there. A protectorate of the U.K.--but politically unique. Population (1991) around 60.
