The group consited of Jim Morrison (vocals), Ray Manzarek (organ, keyboard), Ray Krieger (guitar) and John Densmore (drums). Morrison left the band in and died soon aftwards in Paris. The remaining Doors continued and released two more albums, Other Voices and Full Circle, but weren't nearly as successful as with Morrison.

Morrison's lyrics are said to be influenced by the writings of Aldous Huxley, particularly The Doors of Perception.

Oliver Stone made a movie about the group.
