We adopt the position that three basic notions are sufficient to describe all statistical models.

  • We choose a StatisticalUnit which we will observe directly.
  • We many really be interested in a StatisticalEnsemble (or SeT) of units rather than in any StatisticalUnit per se.
  • Our interest may be focused on a StatisticalAssembly where we examine functional subunits of the StatisticalUnit.
