History_of_UnitedStates
The United States were founded from 13 colonies established in NorthAmerica by the BritishEmpire. In 1773 frustration with various British practices led to revolt and independence. In a second war, America tried but failed to expel the British from the continent (1812-4) and the two powers stalemated.
America remains a popular destination for immigrants, because of its economic prosperity and the high degree of freedom its citizens enjoy.
