In 1913, William Fox founded two companies, Greater New York Film Rental, a distribution firm, which was part of the IndependentS, and Fox (or Box, depending on the source) Office Attractions Company, a production company. 1915, he merged them to Fox Film Corporation (see [[Vertical Integration]]), 1917 the company moved to [[Hollywood]]. During [[World War I]], Fox was the leading production company in the US. William Fox lost control over the company after the 1929 stock market crash.
