In 1913, William Fox founded two companies, Greater New York Film Rental, a distribution firm, which was part of the IndependentS, and Fox (or Box, depending on the source) Office Attractions Company, a production company. 1915, he merged them to Fox Film Corporation (see VerticalIntegration), 1917 the company moved to HollywooD. During the FirstWorldWar, Fox was the leading production company in the US. William Fox lost control over the company after the 1929 stock market crash
