Flagellate

A cell form characterized by the presence of one or more flagella, whip-like projections that are used primarily for locomotion. The flagellate protists are referred to as the Mastigophora, though this is by no means a monophyletic group; in fact the first eukaryotes may have been flagellates. Flagellate cells also found in multicellular groups, especially among gametes.
