First_lady

Honorary title granted to the wife of the PresidentOfTheUnitedStates. The present First Lady is Laura Welch Bush.

The first lady has no official governmental duties as she is not elected to any public office. Unofficially, she attends many ceremonies and functions of state with the president.

How this will work when a female is elected president remains to be seen.
