Auteur_Theory_Film

This theory states that the best films have the imprint of its auteur (or author) on them. With this assumption, the best films are those that best betray the hand of its creator. The creator is almost always the director, but can be actors (as is the case of [[Mae West]]).

This theory was started in France in the sixties from the [[Cashiere du Cinema]] (I am not sure I spelled that right.)

Needless to say, such theory rubs screenwriters the wrong way.
